Overview
Inner thigh laxity causes skin chafing, discomfort with movement, and an appearance that restricts clothing choices. An inner thigh lift removes excess skin from the upper inner thigh, with the scar placed in the groin crease where it is naturally hidden. Outer thigh excess is addressed as part of a lower body lift. Both can be combined with liposuction for comprehensive contouring.
Are You a Good Candidate?
Ideal candidates for thigh lift typically present with one or more of the following:
- Inner thigh skin that rubs or causes chafing
- Loose skin on the inner thigh following weight loss
- Deflated inner thigh skin after significant weight change
- Good candidate for general anesthesia
The Procedure
Dr. Fern's approach to thigh lift proceeds through the following steps:
- Incision placed in the groin crease for inner thigh lift (scar hidden within underwear and swimwear)
- Excess skin and fat removed from the inner thigh
- Vertical extension added if more skin removal is needed
- Secure sutures anchored to Colles fascia for lasting result
- Light compression garment applied
Recovery
Walking encouraged from day one. Return to work in 10–14 days. Avoid strenuous leg activities for 4 weeks. Groin crease scar fades over 12–18 months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the scar be visible?
An inner thigh lift scar is placed in the groin crease and falls within the lines of most underwear and swimwear. Over time it becomes a thin, pale line.
Can thigh lift and liposuction be combined?
Yes — and frequently this is the right combination. Liposuction addresses fat while the lift addresses loose skin. Treating both simultaneously produces better contour.
